in case you have noticed, several websites that are managed and administered by me are down.
at this moment i do not know specifically why, but my hosting company (secureserver.net) tells me only that it is due to a "copyright infringement.
" i do not even know which of the 30 some sites might actually have the claimed infringement and so far all i've been told is that there is a claim and that i have to email a certain group and they will get back to me.. i have no idea when these sites will come back on line.

Confirmed that one bank of servers is down at the hosting company and they are working on it.
This is not an attack by the WT or any of its agents.

Update on JWSurvey.org and other websites...
This appears to be a hosting company problem. All of my websites are down on this server. I am on the line waiting to talk to them, but there is a 20 minute wait - so apparently the problem is at their end involving one or more of their master servers.
I'm not sure if this is part of the problem, but when trying to set up an expanded email box for my daughter, it failed because it assigned the mailbox to the Asian region, not US. Since my domains are US region, it would not allow me to modify or correct. So something is going on.
It could be an attack - but more likely it is a temporary glitch like the one in September when they were switching (according to them) from disk based servers to memory based servers. To the world there is little difference, but when you take spindles, motors and bearings out of the picture, things are a lot faster with much lower maintenance.
I'll let everyone know when the sites are back up and what the problem might have been (if they tell me).

i mean no disrespect to sd-7 or his fine thread on which this picture has already featured, but i think it is just so ridiculous that it deserves a thread all of its own.. lurkers and apologists, this is how your precious organization views itself.... behold the madness.... .

Is the Watchtower a "heirarchy" - or not:
-------------
"It’s interesting to note that the Watchtower seems to have changed its official position about what kind of religion it really is. For decades the Society has criticized the Catholic and Orthodox churches, and most mainstream Protestant denominations, for being “hierarchies.” Instead of being ruled from the top down by a pope or archbishop, Jehovah’s Witnesses have traditionally presented themselves as groups of Bible students meeting together in small groups, directed in an ecclesiastical “theocratic arrangement.” Watchtower publications still promote the idea that appointments of local elders and special pioneers are directed by holy spirit, not from direct orders by branch office managers.
"Watchtower attorney Calvin Rouse destroys that claim forever as officially recorded on pages 4 and 5 (segment 1). Rouse states emphatically, “We are a hierarchical religion just like the Catholic Church.” What follows is even more enlightening.
"Thank you, Brother Rouse, for finally clearing up that long-standing misunderstanding on our part. Until now, we thought Jehovah’s Witnesses were part of a “theocratic organization” and that “Jehovah hated evil hierarchies” like the Catholic Church. We were taught and constantly reminded that those false religions were “a snare and a racket.” Now we find out that we aren’t really any different, but are “just like them.”
---------------
Is this another example of "theocratic strategy" or "theocratic warfare"?
i have been doing radio-talk shows for the last three months.
here is the pitch my promotion agency used for my january talk shows.
my interview with barry morgan, cjad-am 800, montreal, quebec, canada was taped an hour ago for his program that will be aired later today.
I'm hoping that Dick Kelly is able to get recordings or links to recordings for some of these radio shows he's been on recently. If so I will gladly see that they are available online on my sites and his.
While most of us have been focusing on the child abuse issue thanks to the Candace Conti court case, Dick has made the treatment of women within the organization his focus point.
I think we often forget about the sisters in the organization. If they grew up in the religion, as Dick and his sister did, young women are often at the mercy of their parents and/or husband because most only have a basic high school education (or less, as is often the case) to work with. Because the Watchtower constantly pushes their doctrine that women should be submissive to their husbands in all things (hubby speaks for Jehovah in the household), any show of independence on their part will often lead young women to very unpleasant choices. I think we all know what those are.
Do they stay with an abusive husband? Or do they take their case to the elders for help and face possible reproof themselves? If their husband either denies them their marital due (or worse, is into rough and violent sex), the answer they'll often get is that they "should try harder to please their husband."
Here is a recent quote from an email I got that was sent in response to the article on this link http://ex-jw.com/sick-of-it :
"I read the article by the young woman who suffered abuse by her own father. I could relate to her experience. My father was abusive to me as well. I complained to my mama and all she would tell me was 'you should be thankful that your daddy doesn't do to you what he does to me.' I asked her if I should go to our congregations servant (this was in the early 70s) and she told me that I would best be quiet about it all and not make trouble. She told me that if I made trouble daddy would take it out on her and demand that she keep me in control.
"I guess I don't have to tell you that I got out of that house as soon as I could and married a nice witness boy named Carl. Before we got married I told Carl what my daddy was doing to me. He told me that he would be a good and loving Jehovah's Witness husband and love me and protect me forever even into the new world. We got married in the KH and everybody thought we were going to be so happy. We were I guess for about two months and then ever thing changed.
"It didn't take Carl long to become just like my daddy. He'd ignore me for weeks at a time telling me that he didn't want to get a baby before Armageddon came in 1975. He was too tired working and going out in service. When I complained that we had no money because we were both working parttime jobs, he slapped me over and over again and told me to shut my mouth. He had bruised me all over my face and had to put on a lot of makeup before going to the KH. I know every body noticed that my face was puffy and bruised and I lied and told them that I just had a bad cold and my face always got puffy when I had a cold.
"I have to say that was the best part. When Carl would want to have sex he would try to do to me what my daddy did to my mama. I won't describe what he would do, but you can guess. I hated sex and soon didn't want him to touch me. You know what he did! He complained to the elders that I was denying him sex and he wanted them to talk to me. I thought good this is my chance to tell my story. But no they didn't listen to me. They said this is not about Carl this is about you. He is your husband and he has his rights over you.
"I couldn't take it very long after that and you can guess what happened to me. I got disfellowshipped even though I knew that Carl was doing it with another sister but she denied it the lying bitch. I had no other choice so I divorced Carl and then tried to move back with my mama and daddy. They told me I could not come home because I was df. They did not want to bring Jehovah down on their house. I know that mama did not agree but what else could she do. I finally got a little job and rented a room from an old lady who needed some help around.
"A few years later a JW came to my door and witnessed to me. When I told him that I used to be a JW and had to leave he said tell me your story. I did. I told him everything. He soon got up and said he had to leave because I was obviously still a wicked person for lying about what happened to me. He told me to my face I know that no elders would ever do that and disfellowship you for that so you are lying. You need to come to the KH and ask for forgiveness and tell the truth and maybe they will let you back in. You have no other choice or else you will face destruction at Arm."
As you can see, this poor woman's story covers all five of Dick Kelly's high points he lists above. The sad thing is that I get emails that are very similar all the time. I'm sure that many on JWN have lived through similar stories themselves or know someone personally that has been through this type of situation.
So although many of us are dedicated to stopping child abuse within the JW congregations and will not stop, we must not forget the wives and sisters who are also trapped and abused by the insane rules and policies that not only protect child abusers, but also promote, support and create an environment that treats women in the congregation in unfair, unlawful and yes - unscriptural ways.
It's time to speak up on this subject. Dick Kelly's sister Marilyn lived through all of it herself and it ended up dying from its results.
You can read the full story about Dick's sister Marilyn on his website at RichardEKelly.com (link is in the previous post). I feel it is so important that I have decided to serialize Marilyn's story on WatchtowerWatch.com as well. (part 1 is online now and part 2 wiil be online on January 15).
I'm telling you - this is some serious s@%t!

we have decided to let the world know what happened when our websites were shut down earlier this month by means of this new video..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_9efi84qnc.

Cedars,
Even if they do bring up the background music as an issue, you can just rework the soundtrack and make it even better and get some of the rumble out.
Nice way to start the new year. The Watchtower may have given us the best Xmas present ever.

my husband had gotten into a fight with a couple of victims of different pedophiles, he said in all his years of elderhood, "men and women who were sexually assualted came forward when they were old enough, they did not wait for decades to report they were abused.
you must have some kind of false memory or you are just trying to bring shame to the congregations.
" what is the truth of this?.
Connie,
The sad thing is that there are more pedophiles within Kingdom Halls than anyone can imagine. The Watchtower's own policies suggest that the elders should always give the pedophile the advantage. Somehow, nothing a young child says is ever given any credibility, while a dirty old man who has already been accused by others of "messing with their kids" is given chance after chance. That's why they call a Kingdom Hall a "pedophile paradise."
This is serious stuff. This is where empathy come into play. Imagine you are an 8-year old kid who just had "Brother Jones" stick his thumb up your bum. How do you process something like that? How do you tell your parents? Can you even talk to the elders without telling your parents first? It's embarrassing and you are ashamed. If you are a little boy, how do you tell your single mom what Brother Jones did - especially if she has been seeing him socially while looking for a new father for you? If you are a little girl, how do you tell your father what that kindly elder did after he put his hand up your dress?
This is the part that those of us who were fortunate enough to have never been messed with as kids can't seem to understand. As a little boy of 7 or 8, I didn't even want my mom to see me naked getting in the bathtub. I couldn't discuss the process of human sexuality with my father - even as an adult. So how does a little child get up the nerve - or find a way to describe their distress - after being fondled by Elder Jones?
That is why so many parents have no idea of what their kids go through when left in the care of another JW adult. The Watchtower knows that and uses the "two witness" rule to make it even more difficult for a little child to explain what happened. Who else was there when the TMS Servant tickled her crotch?
I know for a fact that my father would have dealt harshly with anyone who harmed me or my siblings - no matter whether they were JWs or not. At the same time, I also know that if I ever came home from service and told my father that faithful old Brother Hootsis (who was an elder at his last Kingdom Hall before he mysteriously showed up at ours one day) "unzipped my pants and played with my peepee" - that I would likely get a harsh spanking and sent to bed without dinner for "telling such a horrible lie" about another Jehovah's Witness brother.
This is even more complicated when one of the child's parents is the molester.
That's why it is imperative that the Watchtower change their policies once and for all by emphatically insisting that any report of a child being abused by anyone in the congregation should be brought to the attention of the authorities. Having been in law enforcement myself for a few years, I know that just because a report is made does not mean that anyone will be arrested or even charged. Police are trained to take the report and in the absence of any hard evidence (bruises, injuries, etc.) will often refer the case to Child Protection Services. Those professionals can usually determine if a child is lying or is confused about what might have happened to them and deal with each case accordingly. They also know what clues to watch for that indicate when a child has been bothered by a pedophile. "Brother Fungus told me that he would buy me ice cream if I would let him rub my back and kiss me on the ear..."
Elders and rank & file JWs are simply not equipped or trained to deal with these situations. At the same time, they should have their eyes and ears open for any signs of improper or unusual behavior by any of the members of their Hall. They should be especially watchful for clues that something is wrong - for example a seemingly normal JW child suddenly withdraws or acts afraid of others, even in the presence of a parent.
Elders are not policemen, judges, doctors, psychologists, or even teachers. They are enforcers of Watchtower policies and unpaid managers. That is why they need to understand that they should step back and get civil/secular professionals involved whenever there is any suspicion that a child may be in danger.
